Mr Torrie studied at the University of Bristol and qualified in 2004, after which he went on to gain an anatomy prosectorship at the University of Oxford, then returned to complete both his basic and higher surgical training on the Severn Deanery Trauma and Orthopaedic training programme, followed by Neurosurgical Spinal Fellowship in Bristol.
Recognising the clinical importance of understanding and practicing evidence-based medicine he also completed a doctorate (MD) in anatomical sciences investigating the aetiology of Degenerate Lumbar Scoliosis. He took up his consultant post at Gloucestershire NHS Foundation trust in 2017 as a Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with a specialty interest in spinal surgery
